Tignum GmbH

Tignum, a German-American company, upgrades the human performance of business leaders and their teams so they create more value at work and at home. They offer a diverse portfolio of services that range from high-touch to purely digital, giving them the ability to design custom solutions based on clients' unique demands.

The problem

During 2019 and 2020, as the company expanded, integrating three offices in two continents and welcoming new employees regularly, their intranet showed its limitations. Most of the processes were too complex to perform and visualise and it couldn't serve the needs and fast pace of the company.

Tignum introduced new products regularly that needed to be managed on the intranet which, due to the limitations of the tool, created very complex workflows for their users, which had to contact the IT department constantly to understand how it worked.

I join

After being interviewed by their IT Department, I join Tignum for 4 months, working two days a week in their Berlin office.

The process

During that time I focused on several intranet features and components, solving UX problems and also providing HTML and CSS solutions. We worked together on small modules and components, which allowed the Development Team to implement and test quickly, instead of working on a major overhaul of the tool. This approach helped Tignum to improve their workflows quickly, solving their immediate Intranet needs first while improving their products through an iterative process.

Tignum's different teams quickly adopted the new user-focused solutions, tackling complex work flows on the intranet without depending on the IT Department to guide them through each process.

The result

Besides intranet improvements and new product developments, I also worked on their main website and mini-sites, adapting the design to mobile versions and coding the full HTML/CSS for the whole site.
